Taiwan Stock Exchange Enhances Data Integration with Trinity and Teradata

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) has successfully implemented a modern data warehouse (DW) system by integrating Trinity and Teradata, marking a major milestone in its digital transformation journey and significantly enhancing its data management and analytical capabilities.

Previously, TWSE relied solely on an Operational Data Store (ODS) for storing detailed transactional data. However, the ODS had notable limitations: it allowed only data inserts (no updates), lacked transformation and cleansing mechanisms, and introduced potential data conflicts as it replicated raw data directly from source systems. To address versioning issues, TWSE had to implement time-based version tags for each data record.
With growing data volume and increasing analytical complexity, the ODS system was no longer sufficient. TWSE recognized the need for a more advanced, scalable data management infrastructure—leading to the adoption of the Trinity-Teradata solution.

The new data warehouse and associated data marts provide TWSE with a centralized repository for consolidated and transformed data, enabling advanced analytics and strategic reporting. Unlike ODS, the DW supports historical data aggregation, transformation, and cleansing—offering high-quality, decision-ready information.

Key benefits of the Trinity-Teradata solution include:
  1. Enhanced Data Integration
Trinity’s robust ETL and orchestration capabilities allow seamless integration of heterogeneous data sources, eliminating data silos and delivering unified, accurate datasets for analysis.

  2. Improved Processing Performance
Powered by Teradata’s high-performance processing engine and Trinity’s scheduling automation, TWSE now handles large-scale data operations efficiently, supporting timely, data-driven decisions.

  3. Elevated Data Quality
Rigorous data cleansing and validation mechanisms address legacy data inconsistencies, enabling TWSE to place greater trust in the accuracy and consistency of its analytics.

  4. Scalability and Flexibility
The new platform offers future-ready scalability and adaptability to evolving business and data demands—positioning TWSE to support long-term growth with confidence.

The IT department at TWSE emphasized that this transformation represents a significant upgrade from their legacy ODS model. With the combined strengths of Trinity and Teradata, TWSE is now better equipped to support analytics, decision-making, and strategic initiatives.

This implementation not only demonstrates TWSE’s commitment to data-driven innovation but also highlights the powerful synergy between Trinity and Teradata. It serves as a valuable reference for other organizations seeking to modernize their data infrastructure and gain a competitive edge in the digital era.
