Taichung Commercial Bank Adopts Trinity Enterprise Edition to Replace Existing ETL Tool

Taichung Commercial Bank (TCB), founded over 70 years ago in Taiwan, has grown into a major financial institution with 84 domestic branches and one offshore banking unit, serving customers across Taiwan and in Malaysia. In 2022 alone, TCB received over 20 industry awards and recognitions for excellence in finance, demonstrating its continued commitment to quality and trust. TCB also actively promotes sustainable development strategies, guided by five core principles that define modern banking: service, product, expertise, customer focus, and public welfare.

In alignment with these principles, TCB continues to deliver high-quality financial services to both domestic and international clients. As part of this mission, the bank must efficiently manage the vast data operations supporting more than 80 branches. This requires a robust and scalable data integration and management system. However, with the end-of-life of its legacy ETL scheduling tool—and the discontinuation of related support services—TCB was faced with the urgent need to transition to a new, reliable solution for handling critical data exchange and processing.

After evaluating the market and recognizing Trinity’s significant presence and reputation in Taiwan’s financial sector, TCB selected Trinity Enterprise as the replacement for its previous ETL scheduling platform.

Trinity Enterprise offers a comprehensive suite of capabilities, including a wide range of embedded data processing plug-ins that support various databases and file formats. It also features a rich library of data transformation functions for value replacement, format conversion, and encoding translation—supporting the diverse needs of enterprise-level data operations.

One of the most impactful features for TCB was the built-in flexible SQL executor, which proved essential during the early stages of system migration. In addition to standard SQL commands, it supports conditional logic, loops, stored procedures, file access, and even operating system-level commands—giving TCB greater flexibility in managing its data workflows.

To ensure system availability and operational continuity, TCB implemented Trinity’s Active-Standby Server architecture. This high-availability design guarantees uninterrupted job dispatching and complements a client-side load balancing mechanism, maximizing system stability and performance. Mutual backup capabilities further ensure seamless service delivery without downtime.

In addition, TCB has set up dedicated development and testing environments as part of its overall system architecture. This enables simulation and validation of all ETL schedules before deployment, further reinforcing operational reliability and data accuracy.

Mr. Huai-Jhen Luo, Associate Director of Sales for this project, noted:
“During the initial planning phase, TCB faced some unforeseen data processing challenges. However, through ongoing communication and collaboration, we established a standardized framework using Trinity Enterprise. This project not only delivered a stable solution but also laid the groundwork for future expansion and support. With Trinity’s robust infrastructure in place, TCB is well-positioned to continue delivering top-tier services to its clients.”
