Cosmed (a Uni-President Enterprises company) adopts Trinity ETL to replace Teradata ETL Automation
Cosmed, Taiwan’s first and leading drugstore chain under Uni-President Enterprises, operates over 400 retail locations across the island. As business volume continued to grow, Cosmed initially relied on Teradata’s data warehouse system along with its ETL Automation tools to manage critical automated processes. However, after years of use, the system’s limitations began to emerge. According to Cosmed and Trinity’s consulting team, ETL Automation frequently encountered execution errors that lacked re-run capabilities, often leading to repeated manual intervention and increased operational burden. Furthermore, workflow failures required manual inspection and debugging, significantly consuming IT resources.
Following a thorough evaluation and strict product comparison, Cosmed officially adopted the Trinity ETL solution in 2019 to replace Teradata’s ETL Automation system, aiming to resolve long-standing workflow inefficiencies. With this implementation, Trinity ETL demonstrated its strengths in job scheduling and orchestration, successfully resolving the scheduling and rerun issues faced by Cosmed’s IT department. Trinity’s platform also proved highly adaptable, capable of integrating across multiple systems.
Later, when Cosmed migrated its internal data warehouse platform from Teradata to Microsoft SQL Server, Trinity ETL was again selected—this time along with the Trinity-developed SQL Server Adaptor. This strategic move greatly enhanced data transformation performance during the migration process, significantly improving throughput and ensuring smoother data exchange across platforms.
Huai-Zhen Luo, the Trinity business associate responsible for this project, commented: “Cosmed selected Trinity ETL for both its replacement of TD Automation and its data warehouse migration to SQL Server. Trinity’s feature set clearly offered a decisive advantage.”
With the added support of Trinity’s expert consulting team, both projects were successfully launched and delivered with high client satisfaction.
